Bra Size Calculator NZ

New Zealand retailers use the same sizing as Australia: bands numbered 6, 8, 10, 12… (your inch band minus 22) with UK-style cup letters. This free NZ bra size calculator estimates your size from two simple tape measurements, in inches or centimetres, in under a minute.

Here is how it works. Enter your underbust — measured snugly right under your bust — and your bust — measured around the fullest part. The calculator sets your band from the underbust and your cup from the difference between the two. Use Simple mode for the quick estimate, or Advanced mode for a refined result from six measurements.

Your result is an estimate and a starting point, never a guarantee of fit. Brands cut differently, so always check the brand’s own size chart when you can.

How to Measure for a AUS Bra Size

  1. Measure your underbust. Wrap a soft tape snugly around your ribcage, directly under your bust, keeping it level all the way around.
  2. Measure your bust. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, level and firm but not tight.
  3. Enter both numbers above in inches or centimeters and press Calculate.

How AUS Bra Sizing Works

Band sizes

NZ bands are the inch band minus 22: a US/UK 34 band is a 12 in NZ sizing, a 36 band a 14. (Some NZ retailers also stock UK-labelled bras — check the label’s numbering.)

Cup sizes

NZ cup letters follow the UK progression: AA, A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, FF, G… A US DDD is labelled E in NZ sizing.

A worked example

For example, a 34-inch underbust and a 37-inch bust give an estimated 12C in NZ sizing.

NZ bands are US/UK bands minus 22; cups follow UK letters. Closest standard equivalents — brands vary.

AUS Sister Sizes

Go down a band and up a cup, or up a band and down a cup, to keep a similar cup volume. For example, a 12C wearer might also try its one-band-up and one-band-down neighbours. Use our sister size calculator or read the sister sizes guide.

Common Measuring Mistakes

  • A tape that is not level. Check in a mirror that the tape runs horizontally front and back.
  • Measuring over a padded bra. Padding inflates the bust reading and the cup result.
  • Guessing instead of measuring. Bodies change; a fresh two-minute measurement beats years of habit.
  • Ignoring brand differences. The calculator gives a starting size — the brand’s own chart has the final word.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is NZ sizing the same as Australian sizing?

Yes — New Zealand and Australia share the same system: bands 6–26 (inch band minus 22) with UK-style cup letters. A 12C means the same thing in Auckland and Sydney.

How do I convert my US size to NZ?

Subtract 22 from the band and convert the cup to UK letters: a US 34DDD becomes NZ 12E. The calculator does this automatically — just select AUS in the country dropdown.

Why do some NZ stores sell UK sizes?

Many NZ retailers import UK brands and keep the UK labelling. If the tag shows 34E rather than 12E, you are looking at UK sizing — the cup volume is the same, only the band number differs.

Can I enter measurements in centimetres?

Yes. Select Centimeters and the calculator converts everything before applying the NZ band rule.

My size is hard to find in NZ stores — what can I do?

Try sister sizes (one band up or down with the cup adjusted), and check online retailers that ship to NZ — they usually carry wider ranges than high-street racks.
